The glass walls open onto it and the trees stand where they always stood. The house was drawn around them, not the other way round, and the granite boulders that were here first come right up to the windows.
There is a lawn for children, a daybed under the trees, and enough shade to sit outside at two in the afternoon in February. The planting is Cape: aloes, strelitzia, monstera against the concrete walls, and the stone pines that give the whole property its shade.
